Megyn Kelly officially leaves NBC

Megyn Kelly has officially left NBC, the network announced Friday night.
“The parties have resolved their differences, and Megyn Kelly is no longer an employee of NBC,” the network said in a statement obtained by The Hill.
NBC canceled “Megyn Kelly Today” in late October after the former host suggested during a panel discussion that donning blackface for Halloween was “OK” when she was growing up if it was done as a character.
Kelly had apologized to her coworkers in an email after the incident, saying “I am sorry. The history of blackface in our culture is abhorrent; the wounds too deep.”
“I’ve never been a ‘PC’ [politically correct] kind of person, but I understand that we do need to be more sensitive in this day and age,” she wrote. “Particularly on race and ethnicity issues which, far from being healed, have been exacerbated in our politics over the past year.”
Kelly, a former longtime Fox News host who arrived at NBC in January 2017, was locked in negotiations for months with NBC over the terms of her exit.
She is expected to receive $30 million, the full remaining value of her contract, now that the two sides have parted ways.
The former host expressed optimism this week that she would be back on the air sometime in the future.
“You’ll definitely see me back on,” she said during an on-the-street interview with a TMZ reporter in New York on Thursday.
Kelly is reportedly not being subject to any “non-compete” clause, meaning she is free to work elsewhere now that she has parted with NBC.
