Anti-US, anti-Israel billboards put up in Baghdad

Across some districts of Baghdad, the capital city of Iraq, billboards have been set up with anti-US and anti-Israel slogans.
The move comes amid heated debates over allegations of US and Israel’s involvement in recent drone attacks against headquarters, military bases and arms depots belonging to Iranian-backed Shia militias of Hashd al-Shaabi across Iraq.
Pictures show large billboards with cartoons of US President Donald Trump and written phrases like “Death to America” and “Death to Israel”.
The local administration and municipality of Baghdad are yet to comment on the erection of the billboards, but it is believed to be a move by the Hashd al-Shaabi factions with close ties to Iran.
Atheel al-Nujaifi, a Sunni Arab leader and the former government of Nineveh, criticized the billboard and government’s incapability to prevent arbitrary moves that could harm Iraq’s reputation on an international level.
He accused the Shia militias of attempting to turn Iraq into a battleground for Iran to save the Islamic Republic regime in Tehran.
