Iraq ,US troops and a path to change the policy

By Kristen Cole

Trump’s decision to order the killing of Iran’s most influential military figure, Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani, has set off a firestorm in Iraq, angering politicians and intensifying militia threats against U.S.-led coalition bases across the country.
The Iraqi Parliament voted to obligate Iraq’s government to work towards ending the presence of all foreign troops on Iraqi soil following killing the top military commander Qasem Soleimani and the top Iraqi Military commander Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes. Hundreds of thousands of protesters marched through Baghdad calling for US troops to leave Iraq and  it’s becoming very likely that the U.S. military presence in Iraq is coming to end.
On June 24 hundreds of thousands of protesters marched through Baghdad calling for U.S. troops to leave Iraq. The recent events in Iraq are against the U.S. interests and with all things added up, we have got this message that Iraq has become a dangerous place for our troops. The U.S. military forces are in Iraq for almost two decades. given the relatively long period of time for all things to get done in this country, The Iraqi people are exhausted of looking U.S. troops in their country. It appears that the U.S. military presence in Iraq is coming to end. Strategically it is time to end our presence in Iraq to save our soldiers life and military equipment. We must leave Iraq if we want to prevent the U.S.-Iran war. Our allies are leaving us alone in this country. Ben Wallace, the British secretary of state has said “we will respect Iraqi sovereignty. If they require us to leave, that is their right and we will respect it.”
In previous years neither people in Iraq nor the government called for U.S. military to leave the country but now the situation has changed dramatically. The majority of people in Iraq want us to leave and as a matter of fact our soldiers are serving in a dangerous situation. The military families are worried about the life of their youth. And what really matter Now for them is seeing us troops getting back. Donald Trump has promised in 2016 to end the war in the Middle East. Now it is time for him to fulfill his promise. Weather like it or not We have to change our policies in the region.
