Omaha police investigating after 1 critically injured in shooting

Omaha police are investigating after at least one person was injured in a shooting Sunday afternoon.
The shooting happened near 66th and Franklin streets around 3:20 p.m.According to police, officers responded to a call of multiple shots fired. When officers arrived at the scene they located a 36-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the chest.
“All of sudden we’re sitting there and we heard, ‘pop pop pop’. Four or five shots,” said Jim Holloway, who was attending a Superbowl party nearby.
According to authorities, first responders transported the victim to Nebraska Medicine in critical condition.
“It’s definitely a little scary,” said Kat Fischer. “I have a five year old. I don’t like that this is where the neighborhood is going.”
Police told KETV NewsWatch 7 that officers are searching for a suspect. A specific description of the suspect has not been given yet.
According to OPD, the suspect was spotted leaving the scene heading south on 66th street.
Police believe that the suspect shot the victim at the door of a house.
“All of a sudden, we were sitting there and we heard pop, pop, pop, pop. Four or five shots and one guy said ‘that sounded like bullets,” Jim Holloway, a witness, said.
Authorities have not identified the victim at this time.
